Specialist Disability Accommodation, built to standard
SDA is housing designed for NDIS participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. It isn't ordinary housing with grab rails added. It's built to the SDA Design Standard, certified by an accredited SDA assessor at both design and as-built stages, and enrolled with the NDIA before it can attract SDA payments.
That makes it an unusual build, because the compliance work runs alongside the construction rather than after it. A dwelling that fails as-built certification cannot be enrolled — and by then it is too late to change.
High Physical Support is what we build most
We've completed around ten High Physical Support homes. It's the most demanding of the four SDA design categories, requiring structural provision for ceiling hoists, capacity for assistive technology, and backup power — on top of everything Fully Accessible already demands.
We build the other three categories — Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible and Robust — where a project calls for it.
